What is Internet

Internet History
According To Wikipedia.org

The Internet is the biggest world-wide communication network of computers.

The Internet has millions of smaller domestic, academic, business, and government networks, which together carry many different kinds of information.

The term is sometimes abbreviated as "the net". The World Wide Web is one of its biggest services. It is used by billions of people all over the world.

The Internet was developed in the United States by the "United States Advanced Research Projects Agency" (DARPA). The Internet was first connected in October 1969 and was called ARPANET.

The World Wide Web was created at CERN in Switzerland in 1990 by a British (UK) scientist named Tim Berners-Lee.

Today, people can pay money to access the Internet from internet service providers. Some services on the Internet cost nothing to use. Sometimes people who offer these free services use advertising to make money. Censorship and freedom of speech on the Internet can be controversial.

  1. The main predecessor of the Internet is APA.
  2. In 1974 the United States Department of Defense Defense,
  3. Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) of Robert Kahn and Stanford University 's Vint Cerf developed the TCP/IP protocol,

defined in the computer network method of transmitting information between.

On January 1, 1983, the ARPA network changed its network core protocol from a network control program to a TCP/IP protocol. The technology used by the ARPA network (such as the TCP/IP protocol) has become the core of the Internet in the future.

The process of requesting amendments adopted by it has been the mechanism used to develop Internet protocols and standards and still plays a role.

In addition to the ARPA network, early computer networks included UUCP, Usenet, Bitnet, CSNET, and a variety of commercial X.25 networks.

In the 1950s, communication researchers recognized the need to allow regular communication between different computer users and communication networks.

This has led to the study of decentralized networks, queuing theory and packet exchange. In 1960, the ARPA network established by the US Department of Defense's Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) for the Cold War triggered technological advancement and made it the center of Internet development.

  • In 1973, the ARPA network expanded into the Internet, with the first batch of British and Norwegian computers.
  • In 1974, Robert Kahn of ARPA and Vinton Joseph of Stanford proposed the TCP/IP protocol, which defined the method of transmitting messages between computer networks.
  • On January 1, 1983, the ARPA network changed its network core protocol from NCP to TCP/IP.
  • In 1986, the National Science Foundation established the backbone network NSFNET, which is an important step in the history of the Internet. In 1994, NSFNET was converted to commercial operations.
  • In 1995, as the network was opened to business, other important networks that were successfully accessed on the Internet included Usenet, Bitnet, and various commercial X.25 networks.
  • In the 1990s, the entire network was opened to the public. In August 1991, Tim Berners-Lee began promoting his World Wide Web project two years after the establishment of HTML, HTTP and the first few web pages by the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Switzerland.
  • In late 1994, public interest grew steadily on the former academic and technological Internet.
  • In 1996, the term "Internet" was widely circulated, but it refers to almost the entire World Wide Web.

In the meantime, after a decade, the Internet successfully accommodated most of the original computer networks (although some networks like FidoNet remain independent).

This rapid development is due to the fact that the Internet has no central control and the non-private nature of Internet protocols.

The former creates organic growth of the Internet, while the latter encourages compatibility between manufacturers and prevents a company from Dominate on the Internet.

The success of the Internet can be seen in the big and small divisions of the term "Internet." Initially, the term Internet used to refer to networks that were built using IP protocols.

Today, it has been extended to refer to various types of networks and is no longer limited to IP networks. Thus, the lowercase Internet (the "i" is a lowercase letter) is a collection of separate physical networks that are connected by a common set of protocols to form a logical single network.

The uppercase Internet (Internet, the initial "I" is a capital letter) refers to the predecessor of the ARPA network and then uses IP protocols to link various physical networks into this single logical network.

The uppercase Internet is one of the forms of the lowercase Internet, but not the other way around.

Since 2002, some scholars have begun to propose the use of the word "internet" in lower case, on the grounds that the Internet has become a part of human life and lost its proprietary meaning; in 2016, the Associated Press considered "Internet "It has become a general thing like "telephone".

It does not have the meaning of a proprietary trademark. So it began to specify in the format manual that the words "internet" and " web " are all lowercase, and the New York Times followed up, but also the media has different opinions.

Internet and eCommerce

Internet History

Before the advent of the Internet, electronic data interchange has been adopted by some companies as a business tool, but the scope of application is limited.

The rapid development and popularity of the Internet has made it possible to create new business models between enterprises and enterprises, and between enterprises and consumers.

Despite the Internet bubble of the early 2000s, with the increase in Internet users, the Internet is playing an increasingly important role in modern economic life.

The convenience, instantness, and interactivity of the Internet have also spawned many virtual communities like MySpace, Facebook, Youtube, and the corresponding online culture, instant messaging software such as WhatsApp, Wechat, and free collaborative encyclopedias such as Wikipedia and Wikimedia.

At the same time, it also provides services such as global maps, global satellite maps, and urban streetscapes such as Google Map, Google Earth, and Google Street view.

The convenience of the mobile Internet also brings the prevalence of mobile payments, such as Apple pay, Google pay, Samsung pay, Wechat pay, Alipay and other services.

In 2009, the first by a non-government, Internet users operating under open-source decentralized to the encrypted electronic money - Bitcoin was launched. In 2011, the bitcoin exchange rate exceeded $1 for the first time.

In 2010, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) launched the first non-English Internet internationalized domain names.
